Ascension Day is a holiday in Togo to commemorate Jesus Christ’s ascension to heaven as recorded in the Bible. It is observed on the fortieth day of Easter – 39 days after Easter Sunday – and always falls on a Thursday.
Assumption Day is also known as the Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and is observed every 15 August in Togo. Assumption Day celebrates the day when, according to Catholic tradition and doctrine, the Virgin Mary was assumed bodily into Heaven.
Easter is regarded as the most important holy day by Christians, and in Togo it is celebrated with a holiday on Easter Monday.
