History, Language & Culture Namibia
The name Namibia comes from the name of the Namib Desert, which stretches most of the coast of Namibia and helps protect the Namibia within. From its rule by Europeans until the 19th century, in 1878, Walvis Bay, Namibia's fertile port city, was designated under British rule. And later, Germany ruled South West Africa (South West Africa) as a result of the Treaty of Berlin in 1885. However, Walvis Bay was never under German rule.
