Take you to Borobudur Pagoda "BOROBUDUR" The largest Buddhist religious site in the world built by the kings of the Shailendra dynasty. It is a Mahayana stupa. It is assumed to have been built around the 7th-9th centuries or 1393 AD. It is located in the central part of Java Island, on the Kedu plain, on the right bank near the Progo River, 40 kilometers northwest of Yogyakarta. The beautiful Borobudur Pagoda was created with the overwhelming love and faith in Buddhism of the Srivijaya people. Each sculpture is beautifully arranged and has a meaning that reflects nature, nature or the universe. It is made of lava stone. The total area is approximately 55,000 square meters. The base is square, 123 meters wide on each side. Each side has stairs and archways leading up to the pagoda. There are 10 floors in total. Floors 1-6 are rectangular in shape while floors 7-10 are circular in shape. The base of Borobudur consists of 4 large steps. The wall around the base has approximately 160 carvings, showing human beings who are still involved in lust, attached to happiness, fun, and endless worldly desires. This part is classified as the Kamabhumi level. In the second part, the upper part of the base, the outer and inner walls have approximately 1,460 carvings telling stories of the life of the Buddha and various Jataka tales. This part is considered the Rupbhumi level, the step where humans partially escape worldly desires. The third part is the round base with 72 bell-shaped stupas. Each stupa contains Buddha images, arranged in 3 levels, surrounding a large stupa, which is the ultimate symbol of Borobudur. If considered in terms of religion, the 72 represent 18 forms, 52 mental factors, 1 mind, and 1 nirvana. The base of the stupa, which is in the shape of a blooming lotus, indicates awakening and joy. As for the large stupa, nothing is enshrined inside. It may represent the emptiness, the ultimate nirvana, which is without form or form. This part is considered the formless level where humans are no longer connected to the world.
By the king of the Sailendra Dynasty, this temple is located in Mendut village, about 3 kilometers away from the Borobudur temple group. The chapel is a tall pagoda-like structure with 3 principal Buddha images inside. This temple was discovered in 1836 and was in ruins until it was restored in 1897.
