Travel to Borobudur "BOROBUDUR", the largest Buddhist religious site in the world, built by the Sailendra kings. It is a Mahayana stupa, assumed to have been built around the 7th-9th centuries or 1393 AD, located in the central part of Java, on the Ketu plain, on the right bank near the Progo River, 40 kilometers northwest of Yogyakarta. The beautiful Borobudur Stupa was created with the overwhelming love and faith in Buddhism of the Srivijaya people. Each sculpture is beautifully arranged and has a meaningful meaning of nature or the universe. It is made from lava rocks. It has a total area of ​​​​approximately 55,000 square meters. The base is a square with a width and length of 123 meters on each side. Each side has stairs and gates leading up to the great pagoda, which has 10 floors in total. Floors 1-6 are square in shape. Floors 7-10 are circular in shape. The base of Borobudur consists of 4 large steps. The wall around the base has approximately 160 carvings, depicting human beings who are still involved in lust, attached to happiness, fun, and endless worldly desires. This part is classified as the Kamabhumi stage. In the second part, which is the upper part of the base, the outer and inner walls have approximately 1,460 carvings depicting stories of the life of the Buddha and various Jataka tales. This part is considered the Rupabhumi stage, the stage when humans partially escape from worldly desires. The third part is the round base with 72 bell-shaped pagodas, each containing a Buddha image. Arranged in 3 levels, surrounding the large pagoda, which is the ultimate symbol of Borobudur, the number of 72, if considered in terms of Dhamma, means 18 forms, 52 mental factors, 1 mind, 1 nirvana, and the base of the pagoda in the form of a blooming lotus indicates awakening and joy. As for the large pagoda, there is nothing inside, it may indicate emptiness, which is the ultimate nirvana, which is without form or trace. This part is considered the formless level, where humans are no longer attached to the world.
