A university town and provincial capital, Dumaguete is the ideal base for exploring what Negros Oriental has to offer. It is nicknamed The City of Gentle People because of the warm hospitality of locals. Your half day tour begins with a visit to Silliman University where you can stroll across the campus lined with acacia trees dating back a century. This stop also includes an informative tour of the university’s Anthropological Museum, better known as the Silliman Hall, which is only open on weekends. Built in 1909, Silliman Hall is considered the oldest wooden structure of Eastern Stick Style of American architecture in the Philippines. Next stop is a visit to St. Catherine of Alexandria Cathedral, the oldest stone church on the island, and Campanario de Dumaguete, considered as one of the oldest heritage landmarks of Negros. Your guide will then take you for a walk along the historic Rizal Boulevard.
