Maruoka Castle was built during the Sengoku period. It was built by Katsutoyo, the nephew of Shibata Katsuie, based on the life of Oda Nobunaga, who had always fought against him. The Maruoka Castle was built before the Edo period, and it still exists today. There are 12 castles like this in Japan, and they are called the 12 Original Castles and are precious castles. The only surviving part of the Hokuriku region is Maruoka Castle, which is listed as an important cultural property of the country. Maruoka Castle is just like the Kasumigajo Castle, and the appearance of cherry blossoms in full bloom in spring is an extremely beautiful castle just like in a fantasy. About 400 Yoshino cherry trees are planted in the garden, and it is recognized as one of the 100 most famous cherry blossoms in Japan. In April, the Maruoka Castle Cherry Blossom Festival will be held in the park.
